I've had a request from a friend as to whether I'd put together a website for their business. I don't really have the time out of work to build a website.

Could you all please recommend some entry level website developers who could do the package deal?
You know, domain name registration, website hosting, website design, good support, etc.

Doesn't need to be local, but will need good references.

Thanks

A budget is a good place to start. You will want to chose one that has been around for a while and will be able to continue to support them for many years, rather than a freelancer.

Try Zeald http://www.zeald.com/

Or another one to try is System7 http://www.system7.co.nz/

I know the guys at both, they specialise in cost effective business sites.

Recommend that whoever you choose, that they use an opensource CMS like wordpress, Drupal or concrete 5. Then if you need to, you can move to another provider or use another developer. Avoid ones that have their own proprietary CMS (which are often rebadged opensourced ones anyway) , and won't allow you to host it elsewhere.

What's the budget?

Do they want to go through an agency for future brand growth or is this a one-off piece of work?

I usually link this guide from Lance Wiggs when people don't know what their budget should be, it gives a reasonable guide of what you will get for various ballpark prices:
