I've been working with avatar.co.nz in getting my small business designed and am nearly ready to launch. I've been reading around in regards web hosts and am no clearer on any one that seems all that much better than any others.

This is the first real online presence we'll have so I'm not sure about expected web traffic, we're just a small organic honey/skincare company with hopes of growing. Ideally I'd like a NZ-based server with a good history of customer service that can manage a Wordpress-based small business, good DNS service, FTP, cPanel and backup capabilities.

Unfortunately in my haste to register the domain name I wanted I went with crazydomains and reading around here seems to suggest they're not great, so I'd also be looking to transfer the domain name to whoever I host with.

Basically, any advice or experience you could share with me about where the best services are for hosting small business online would be greatly appreciated. Regards.

At first glance, and with half a dozen clicks, that site looks very professional.

I've had positive experience with freeparking.co.nz, and I believe they meet all of your above requirements, though there are of course a number of highly capable hosts in NZ.  FreeParking's parent company is now owned by an international company, but service levels have not changed that I have seen.

Cheers
Mike

Referral links to services I use, really like, and may be rewarded if you sign up:
PocketSmith for budgeting and personal finance management.  A great Kiwi company.
