I guess its of topic as I cant seem to find a location for it

I feel such a moron when I cant seem to follow instructions that are described as "an easy Guide"

I came across a theme that I wanted to use on WordPress

When I went to install it came up with a "you need ioncube installed"

I thought it was a virus thingy

But it seems to be real

ANYWAY

2-3 hours later I have been following videos and instructions to install this ioncube thingy

To no avail

are there any moron sympathizers who have

Installed Ioncube on Godaddy and got it working with wordpress

Or at least tell me if it is worth spending the hours it takes to figure out and install as I have never come across it before

Sounds like a hosting problem. I'd get some good local hosting with good support. Wordpress should install perfectly without those sorts of problems, and many hosts have auto installers for wordpress, although it is simple to install it without that. Sounds like it has already cost you a lot in lost time, how much money do you put on your wasted time?

ionCube loaders may or may not need to be "installed" depending on the install method. If you use the runtime loaders (i.e. the host supports dl() - don't worry about what this means) then you just drop them in a folder and you're good to go. If not, you need to use the extension loaders, which only the webhost can install.

What you can do is upload and run the loader wizard. That will tell you what loaders are compatible with your hosting, and you have something to go to Godaddy support about.

Is that on a shared hosting plan or VPS? I'm not familiar with Godaddy but I'd be surprised to find a shared hosting where ioncube doesn't come enabled by default.

I use wordpress cause it seems made for those that dont have a degree form MIT (thats the states one not local)

The problem for lay people is comments like "shared hosting plan or VPS" I dont know its $14 a month ??

So I spend 10 minutes on google search and godaddy site trying to work out what sort of hosting I have

Thats 10mins of the "5 minute install" gone already

My thought is this Godady is the biggest supplier i believe ? why not make things that worlk with the biggest supplier

I sometimes think that programmers are born with a malicious streak and they do these things just to screw with us mortals

Oh well tomorow is another day and I did get a reply form the my ticket to ioncube so we will see how it looks in th emorning

They are known for domain names, not so much for web hosting. I have heard their hosting isn't that great. $14 which I presume is USD is quite a bit I have only used them for domains myself, although they will try to upsell you on hosting when you buy a domain.
