Dont know if any of you use (used) codespaces but they are officially out of business after someone got into their Amazon EC2 control panel and effectively deleted their entire business. A good reminder to us all that offline backups are still necessary in the age of the cloud. Check out their website... www.codespaces.com for a better description.

Honestly, I dont know that this is an AWS issue. It sounds like they were not using 2 factor auth, and had backups under the same account as all their live stuff (so no real separation between backups and the production system, at least as far as security goes).
