There is a scenario in marketing a lesson if you want, that says that if you tell 2 people a good story they wil tell 2 more but if you tell 2 people a bad story they will tell ten. The theory being we love to pass on bad times. Human nature ? Yep!

So the two of you that re listening to this story I will begin.
(by the way I dont find the cure for cancer or anything its just a nice story)

So I had got hold of some open source software that I wanted to run on a site that was hosted at godaddy.
It was php based not an area of strength for me but hey I'll give it a go I have installed them before its not brain surgery.
So went head bottom line no success pages come up all wrong if at all
So went back to the developers who said for $20 AUD they would install
Horah! go for it
They got back later

I looked into your issue

your hosting does not support PHP properly, though it should support.

I created a very simple php page  It should output hello

Please contact Godaddy, ask them why the above page don't work. Let them resolve it for you first.

Joe

So I RANG! Godaddy on there 0800 number form NZ
Call was answered in 2 minutes
Hi my name is Brad How may I help You ?
(Brad is an American speaking fluent English ,i ask the obvious , he is in Arizonia.
He looks at the problem whilst i am on the line
"Ok Graham let me see how I am going to solve this for you"
2 minutes later he has discovered that it was a error in the .htaccess file that HE has fixed and its working fine
The obligatory "Can I help you with anything else today?"

Well done Godaddy thats what I call service

Did you both enjoy that?

Astonishing.  Godaddy has almost literally the worst reputation in the hosting industry, so for them to do anything right is actually almost beyond belief.

We're talking about the company who advertises using scantily clad girls at the Superbowl.  And whose CEO decided it'd be a great idea to pose in front of a dead African Elephant he shot.

You must have caught a good help desk guy. He's probably already moved on to a higher paying job. :)
