Does anyone use open media vault and/or owncloud here? I recently built a NAS with OMV, I'm not sure about optimizing the settings, I'd appreciate some advice.

Company I used to work for used Owncloud, was OK but had several really annoying limitations which annoyed the heck out of me. Later versions may have corrected them by now.

Have played with v6 of ownCloud a lot, ended up abandoning it. Haven't tried OMV yet. What are you trying to achieve with the NAS? Media playback from any device anywhere,or something else?

I've run OwnCloud since version 6, currently on 7.0.2 with a lot of customisation. What are you having issues with?

We offer ownCloud servers and packages for our clients.

Works great and we are recommended in NZ by developers.

If you need a hand, let me know.

I use omv as a regular nas. I have a bunch of movies and a plex server running. I installed owncloud to be able to access the nas from outside home. I'm not sure what's the best way to merge the smb share and the owncloud stuff though. I heard that one shouldn't touch owncloud folders. Ideally i want to use the nas to store stuuf, and have lower capacity ssd's in all computers.

You can set owncloud to include remote folders given the permissions are setup correctly (eg. DropBox, Google Drive etc.) - I believe you can achieve access to your NAS drive in the same way.

For example, you can mount a USB Drive and share it with ownCloud quite easily.
