A friend runs an automotive repair shop and we are looking for a CRM type system to manage the client relationship, sales and service reminders - a long with an inventory system. Currently he just produces invoices but we want to sharpen up a bit and we are looking around for a good system.

Can anyone recommend something they may think is suitable? either onpremise or hosted solution? I have performed a quick Google but would like to see if someone has had similar experience with any.

We've done a bit of work for clients that use http://www.spannerplanner.com/ and it looks good.

freitasm: Budget?

I guess we'll look at budget once we seen what matches our need's. Having said that, we do not want to re-invent the wheel.

The defacto standard in NZ for automotive repair workshops is a piece of software called SAM
I dont know of any that arent using it.
Tyre shops seem to use MYOB and Xero.

SAM is what the mechanics we did work for were using before they changed to spannerplanner.
