Ambiguous questions - how much RAM - is that for the whole OS or just wordpress? Personally I use shared hosting so I have no idea about that.

Auto update can break things, I'd want control of that.

Starting at $40/month... I pay $10/month and I run many Wordpress sites on that. If it was for your small business or even for your large business running a core website $40 isn't bad, fully managed. Take a look at good gallery as a comparison, which includes highly optimised websites for photographers and wordpress as an extra... wordpress being unsupported but available.

Thanks Timmmay,
You make some great points, a good theme will use hardly any ram but a theme that is not written well with 20 plugins will use alot of ram.  So you are right it is not an easy question to answer.

What about variable ram so it automatically adjusts to what you need?

Yes you can get unlimited hosting out of the US for $1.95/month there are also some fairly cheap hosting in NZ, in fact CyberHub has free shared hosting up to 30MB, this service is not aiming at those type of people, rather people that want dedicated SSD, dedicated IP's, managed updates with backups taken care of so they don't need to worry about it.

CyberHub does have shared hosting as well, but this managed WordPress offering is for high traffic websites that need the bandwidth and resources.

If backups are automatically done and an update of WordPress or a plugin breaks the site which occasionally happens, it can be restored within a few minutes from backup with a managed service.

Yeah Good Gallery is the sort of thing that we are going for, but it does not look like they host on SSD's or at least the features page does not mention it.  $20 US = $28.03 NZ
So with the prices that have been proposed an extra $12 per month for SSD's + auto updates + auto backups.

And of course all our hosting is in NZ rather than the US.

GG is on the Amazon cloud, and it's super fast, it wouldn't surprise me if it was using RDS (ie MySQL) on provisioned IOPS SSDs. I can see SSDs useful for database, but for files I'm not sure how much value they add - but they're cheap so why not.

Variable RAM would make sense - sell the service, not the hardware.

There's definitely value in having a professional hosting service taking care of upgrades, fixes, backups, etc. Depending on the target business the difference between $40 and $80 may be irrelevant, but for small single person businesses even $40 may be too much. I guess it's about targeting, and this is targeting the high end. In that case, with 5GB of content, $80 would be good value.

The navigation bar at the top of your website says "Hostings"

Shouldn't it say "Hosting"
