Morning All

Can anyone recommend a good value for money VPS in NZ?

$20+- pm
at least 20gb storage
no data caps

Your not going to have a cheap option if looking for No Data Cap.

Zappiehost just announced their VPS's in NZ earlier this week on LowEndBox with a deal currently 50% off for the life of the plans (Use the Coupon H05RLJUU36 - Expires at the end of July - Cheapest would be $2.25 a month after discount).

Some of their plans are out of stock at the moment but the support team said these should be back in stock tomorrow.

They are Colo'ed at HD.net.nz in Auckland and sit on a 100Mbps/s connection. I managed to pick up one of the 2GB packages and seems to be working perfectly so far.

That's some pretty impressive pricing for NZ based servers! I don't need one, I don't have the time to manage one, I already have an abundance of unused server space in several countries but gosh darn it I'll be grabbing one. Thanks for helping me spend more money on a 'hobby' that hasn't earned me a cent in years

In case anyone is interested in Zappie:

Signed up for the 'New Zealand VPS - 1GB VPS' with Zappie Host this evening and so far the node looks good.

It appears that HD Net are announcing a netblock belonging to Zappie Host originally located in Belarus (185.99.132.XXX).

Below is a freevps bench.sh run just before midnight:

The network speeds are OK (100mb connection - although my own 100mb connection via Snap is consistently getting better results to the above servers) but the I/O is pretty impressive. Nice to see a decent CPU as well.

Trace route's go via APE and are only half a dozen jumps from my Snap Fibre connection in Chch with a 19ms ping.

I haven't seen a way yet to change rDNS so I'm guessing if that's supported its via the helpdesk.

I'll be using it for NS and backup MX initially, it's currently installing Cpanel DNS Only.

Got myself a VPS from Zappie, Prices are cheap specially with the 50% life-time and the server seems to be running fine but not the fastest server I have seen. Overall great server if you are under a budget.

Just be aware that HD has a fairly shall we say colourful history, personally I wouldn't run anything important on anything hosted in/on their network.

I guess if you're looking for the cheapest option you're probably not running anything critical on it anyway.

I used to be a customer of itlab.co.nz. They were good. Small VMs but unlimited traffic.
