i'm trying to setup these two records with office 365 but when i add the values to my domain records it keeps on adding .mydomainname.co.nz to the end. there isn't a way to remove it and office keeps on say its added incorrently 

 

i'm using metaname.net for my registrar 

 

help! is there something i'm doing wrong?

Hmmm... try putting a full stop on the end of the entry you are putting in.

If you are pointing your MX to a CNAME record you are doing it wrong.

 

http://exchangepedia.com/2006/12/should-mx-record-point-to-cname-records-aliases.html

 

MX should always be pointing to an A record.

I've fallen into this trap too.

 

It actually say on the page: Names that are fully-qualified such as www.yourname.co.nz. or ghs.google.com. should have a trailing dot

 

But you often don't see that when your having problems laughing
