Dell has sold Sonicwall .
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/06/20/dell_sells_off_software_arm/

This has me a bit nervous as I need recently quoted Sonicwall upgrades for  2 companies
Its not reassuring that Sonicwall could turn into 1 of those companies sold off every few years

Any thoughts on this , by those who have sonicwalls installed on clients sites ?

Random thought:

It is Dell Software group which will become standalone.

Ie; this is not a single product.

Provided they pay key attention to employee retention, the immediate future is somewhat secure.

Had heard rumours of this a few weeks ago, I was told Sonicwall were not happy with the Dell transition and wanted to move back to a standalone company.

I have been rejoicing about this for weeks when I found out about it. Hopefully, they can fix the terrible support. (Sonicwall used to have the best support among our vendors where even L1 support could solve moderately difficult problems pretty much immediately).

Sonicwall the product isn't going away. I'd sell (and have done) with confidence.

Agree with you here on the support side of things, have used as bunch of their products and since tell took over support has gone downhill. Have had a VPN issue for 3-4 months now which still isn't resolved so have had to use a different vendor to get reliable VPN access for staff.

I don't recall the last technical case that we got resolved in under 6 months. I am in the process of trying to find out who is responsible for the Sonicwall Group now to discuss my concerns as now is the time to effect change.

The lack of a technical forum is disgraceful.

The Sonicwall sale was announced a month or so ago?

Anyhoo... Dell Software Group is being 'divested' from Dell and will be split into smaller companies such as Quest and SonicWALL. You will likely see more channel focus from Sonicwall, less distractions.
