as much as I hate to use the word cloud....
Im after reasonably priced options for cloud based server backup.
Any recommendations ? or advice on who/what to avoid ?
Cheers

I can suggest the service that our company runs. Based in an Auckland datacentre with a years retention on the data.
Have a look at the following and PM me if you have an questions. https://cloudedge.nz/services/cloud-backup/
Do you want to backup to a cloud server, or back up a server to the cloud?
I ask because there is a great service I use (Backblaze) but it's definitely more suited to backing up a normal PC to their servers rather than an enterprise level backup to cloud option.

Do you want to use a provider, or want to run your own? Are you doing a full server backup? SQL databases? VMs?
I use Altaro Backup on Geekzone, but because we run it on multiple VMs. Altaro on the tin (in the Datacom datacentre), plus a weekly local copy on a remote Altaro storage server. Of course in this case I am running my own. On top of that SQL Server backup (daily) and transaction files (closed every fifteen minutes) go to Crashplan for individual restore if a full VM restore is not needed.
Look at the options presented in the previous two posts for more as well. For a complete answer I think we need to know more of your requirements.

As a techie, I like the CommVault solution provided by www.planb.co.nz. Then again, I don't pay the bills. They back up your servers offsite into their DC. Data restores are easy enough via the Java based console. Their support is also great.
Veeam offers a free backup tool if you want to do your own solution. Pay to have a server in AWS or Azure and replicate data there?

SBS ( exch, sharepoint) backup into the cloud .
ie a fully automated backup, where staff dont have to change tapes etc
I know there are alot of options, but some are ridiculously expensive , and I know of one local provider that doesnt have a good history
of backup reliability .
thanks for the replies so far
Plus one for Veeam from me. I use the free B&R version at home and we use the same B&R paid subscription at work. Add in a cloud connect option and it gets you the offsite backup as well. It's simple to use and see working, which I think is always useful.
Plus 2 for Veeam B&R although it's strengths are best when using to backup a virtual environment.
