I've recently been consolidating and retiring some of my servers as I've gone a bit over board in the last few years (Can't pass up a good deal...). I'm now down to 3 dedicated servers (rented) plus a handful of VPSs. Considering my usage is now mainly personal (used to mirror some projects and host a few semi-useful websites - now its small personal sites, email, nextcloud, openvpn, backups and linux seeds) I've decided to retire another server.
I've had a Dedibox SC gen2 with Online.net since May 2015 that has been solely used for storing backups. It has long since been marked EOL and is not replaceable at the price point I'm paying (€5.99). I've transitioned the backups to another server so now it's just collecting dust. It features a mighty VIA Nano U2250 (1x 1600 MHz) with 2Gb of Ram and a 500Gb HDD ("ssd boosted") running Centos 6.9. Out of all the servers I've run this one has proven to be the most stable and reliable. It hasn't missed a beat since it was last rebooted:
21:00:53 up 576 days, 9:32, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.03, 0.00
It is with much sadness that I push the "Terminate" button.
Goodbye Pavlova, you've been a great wee server.
