Just got this:

Hello,

I know many you have been awaiting details about Microsoft's annual tech event, Ignite.

After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone this year's event.

We appreciate that many of you look forward to Ignite as much as we do, and this decision was not taken lightly.

Microsoft is committed to all our customers and, as many of you will be aware, we are pivoting our business to be more partner focussed than ever before.

We do hope to re-ignite the event in the future. And with this in mind, as soon as we have made a decision on timings and logistics we will update all of you.

Thank you,

Barrie Sheers,
New Zealand General Manager Microsoft

I think this is the first one MS has "missed" since starting in 1996, so it's interesting that we're not getting it this time around.

Yup, also got this. Sounds more like "cancelled until further notice" than "Postpone[d]" though?

My understanding is it's more of an alignment with the Australian timeline. (Feb??)

Well balls.

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup. Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

From what I've heard it was cannibalising attendance from the Australian event, and is to be moved to Feb.  If they ran techfest (or whatever they call the party now) at Rainbows End in summer it would be splendid.
