We're moving our domains email and cloud storage to from Google to Office 365, so will not be renewing G Suite once the current contract expires.

But we would like to keep our Google sign-ins for free Google services like maps and YouTube. Will our logins (e.g. user@owndomain.co.nz) automatically change to free Google accounts once the G Suite contract expires?

A question for your Google business partner maybe?

I don't know if they've updated it, but when I moved from Google Apps to Office 365 they deleted my entire account along with all my android apps as its either all or nothing once you combine your android login with your google login :-( Hopefully they've updated it but they made it very clear that they couldn't downgrade the account.

I dont think Google offer the free tier with your own domain any more.  Its either $5/mth or use @gmail.com

You can have a Google account without a gmail address. (obviously won't have email)

I don't think Google offer it otherwise their login process would be more complicated like Microsoft's where it asks whether you are logging into the personal or organisational (work or school) account.

Got a response to my query from Google, but clearly English was not the persons first language so wasn't very clear.

The gist seemed to be that they don't revert to free accounts.

Hopefully I can just remove the domains from G Suite and that will allow me to create free Google accounts without Gmail reusing the same addresses.

The domains and logins are just for private use of only 3 users so I hadn't given any thought to the fact that we had been using the logins for more than just email and cloud storage.

It seems like they really want to make it difficult to change providers!

Be careful as it sounds like you might loose any apps bought using those logins... as I mentioned that is what happened to me and I had to create brand new accounts.

None of us are Android users fortunately so no app purchases, so they are really just for YouTube, Maps, Chrome synchronisation etc.

It's a bit of a pain to have to do it, but if I can create new accounts with the current email addresses then it should be OK.

I'll find out soon enough!

Would be nice if they let people continue to use those services but I doubt it. When Xtra email was migrated from Yahoo to SMX, all @xtra.co.nz Yahoo ID logins were suspended so you couldn't continue to use non-email Yahoo services. Not that there was too much to lose in that case.

I've tried the exact same except moving to Amazon WorkMail. Leaving Google was going to be aweful having to setup each and every service again manually once I left so I quickly put that idea out of my mind. I guess when you think about it there's a whole lot of unlinking that has to go on in the backend so I could only imagine how complicated it would be to allow this to happen.

Out of interest (and OT), what are the reasons you're moving from G Suite to O365?

@lxsw20 Main reason is it works better natively with Outlook on PC, so we can ditch the Google Outlook Connector. Plus OneDrive's heavy integration with Windows 10 and Office 2016 makes it a little more convenient to use than Google Drive.

Nothing really wrong with G Suite, but since we aren't Android users there is no compelling reason to stick with Google.

Fair enough. We have our users all work through Chrome. It does take some getting used to if you've come from Outlook/Office!
