Hi

Looking at G Suite for Business for various reasons and have noticed that even on the en_nz page, it still goes to USD as the default pricing mechanism.  This is a concern as it means that the billing amount is not static and can vary due to exchange rate fluctuations... Is this the case, or does google actually apply a static rate to the conversion?

Thanks,

Chris

Nope. Billed in USD so actual cost varies each month based on the dollar, as you note.

Well that's just dumb.  How are you supposed to actually budget appropriately if the cost could change, e.g. our exchange rate has dropped against the US over the past week meaning that your costs could be different to what you expected!

Buy prepaid USD on your Credit Card for the year and use that?

I budgeted to the worst (expected) cost, and prior to the current plunge I've been 'pocketing' enough to hopefully offset against any change for a few months, but I'll still need to monitor and modify if required. I while ago the actual cost was a few cents higher than I'd budgeted for, but I don't recall by how much.

One thing I have done with Gsuite is fill up the account extra (typically with enough for a year of service) when the exchange rate of the dollar has been good.

Not sure I would do it now with NZD/USD being what it is, but if you want to make accounting easier and know exactly what you pay for a year, it might still be an option?

The same way that any business does when buying services from overseas. Better USD than what adobe do and charge AUD based on some rate they make up.

Or you can try to find a local reseller / partner that bills you in NZD?

What am I missing here ?

GSuite costs so little any exchange rate fluctuations can be considered as minimal surely. If you're using it for your business I'd expect you to have much more to worry about with a budget than a couple of dollars a month as the rate changes.

So what is the reason for needing the same amount each month ?

Received today

... As of 1 November 2018, Google Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. is assigning your contract relating to your New Zealand G Suite account, including any amendments and related agreements (such as Service Agreements), to Google New Zealand Limited, as a reseller. This means that from that date, Google New Zealand Limited will be bound by the terms of the contract and will be invoicing you for that service ...

Have also received the above email. Hopefully they don't hike the price in the process.

If it's for personal use then you can still purchase "old" Google Apps "Free" accounts with 25/100 or whatever accounts available on the web. Then that's free.

While it doesn't give you ALL the GSuite features like MDM, it gives you all the main ones 99% of people want.
