I thought OneDrive was underwhelming (~350Mbps up or down) until I tried Google Drive, which would not upload any faster than 20Mbps from the Windows client. Is 350Mbps the best I can expect from these cloud services in NZ?

OneDrive also has this infuriating thing it does, where it will upload/download at ~350Mbps for the first 80% of the file, then plummet to sub-100Mbps speeds (even as low as <1Mbps) and then crawl along at that speed for the rest of the transfer. This has nothing to do with my network.

Given most of these services aren't actually hosted in NZ, 350Mbps is exceptionally good. Hell, even 35Mbps would be excellent.

350Mbps is exceptionally good. Amazon S3 in Sydney with parallel uploads can probably give you 1Gbps according to this article, but it's raw storage, you need software to take advantage of it. I use CloudBerry backup to S3 in Oregon, I get at least 10Mbps per upload thread.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should quit my whining then haha.

However, there's still that second issue, so if any OneDrive users know what the deal is with that I'm all ears.

Might be running a checksum? Other thing it might be is version history or metadata collation.
