I’ve been looking into hosting and come across https://webhostingnz.com/services/web-hosting-overview/

Anyone have any experience in using them or other recommendations?

I want to have a fairly basic website - no selling just an advertisement for my business really. And email (happy to forward this to gmail if that works). In the ideal world I’d prefer to be able to manage email myself.

Thanks in advance

A

I’d check out Https://Hostingnz.co.nz
Fraser can sort out the website and email in the one platform or even do a dns redirect to gmail if you prefer.

I'm not up to date on shared hosting but for email you should look at Office 365 / Google Apps. They are much better solutions than any small hosting providers self hosted offer & give you enterprise level features.

Essentially that was my thinking regarding forwarding to gmail - I really only need 1-2 inboxes but like the idea of having *@domain.com forwarding in case people mis-spell or send to the wrong address.

Thanks

Strangely I was just looking into this again this morning.  I am currently hosting overseas using a company I have other websites on but keen to move to something locally.  The short answer is not yet.  I was hoping for some opinions on the two mentioned above.

Essentially what I want is pretty basic and won't have a lot of traffic.  I mainly need email and am currently just forwarding to gmail.  I haven't done my website yet.  I was contacted by a user on here who offered to do it but I think they're no longer on GZ so need to find someone else...

Let me know if you have any tips!

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

my main website is hosted on a Singapore server, was with Siteground (also Singapore server) and moved just recently.

I wasn't happy with Siteground speed and pricing is bit high, and let myself get convinced to move without my usual due diligence.

And now, speed is even worse. :(

Thankfully I can compare because I have a second domain/website hosted at freeparking.

Both websites are WordPress and using Avada, and similar plugins. freeparking is loading in less than a second.

While Singapore server is 3.4 seconds.

Via a FB speed optimisation forum, I heard of a Hamilton-based hosting provider, that does staging.

Which means, try it for free for 14 days, and if I like it, I will buy it. He cloned my website and staged it on his servers.

Quick and pro service. Did the usual speed tests etc to compare. Service was great. And he optimised the plugins as well.

I'm very comfortable with this provider. Less stress and I can focus on my life insurance business.
