Possibly a long shot, but I thought I'd see if anyone has had any experience troubleshooting these.

One of my clients is a solar installer and they're having an issue with a customer's inverter (Solax X1-Hybrid HV) not connecting to their home WiFi network. It was installed and configured without issue a while back and the inverter connected no problem. However, since then the customer has been sent a replacement router (Vodafone provided Huawei HG659). This has been configured with the same SSID and password as the previous one and all other devices can connect without issue.

The inverter creates it's own ad-hoc network to allow configuration via a browser - we can connect to this without issue, and enter WiFi credentials (have tried via both DHCP and static). When saving the credentials, the config page refreshes as it should but only reloads the same network setup page with blank credentials, and the device doesn't connect to the internet. There are no error messages or logs (that I know of).

It's obviously linked to the router being replaced (hence limited support available from the supplier), but I'm a bit stumped how to solve this one.

For obvious reasons, we don't want to make any alterations to the customer's network setup as everything else is working without issue.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Those inverters have ethernet, can you run a temporary cable to the router and see if that works? Can you see any logs on the Huawei for the wireless issue? When you use the DHCP option can you see a lease on the router?

Having a look through Solax's PocketWifi User Manual,  failure to commit changes when saved indicates an issue with the wifi connection.

Once you've confirmed functionality through ethernet, you can look at troubleshooting the wifi connection. One thing to note is that even though you may have an identical SSID and password, the encryption might differ. Your Solax unit may still hold the old encryption settings which may conflict with the new router, causing an exception. I would recommend re-initializing the system for the new router if possible. Or, simply try a new SSID on the modem and see if that fixes it or if it's ruled out.

I was planning on a another site visit yesterday to look into this further but have since been informed that the inverter is now connected and working as expected.

I think I'll just file it under "who knows?" and call it a win.

Many thanks for the suggestions, they are much appreciated.

I have been caught with case sensitivity on ssid's before, not on your specific device

But on connecting an industrial telemetry modem.
