So I've been filing my tax return for the last tax year. This was my first year of paying provisional tax.

When I get to the last step of the filing it shows me the residual tax amount.

Question (or confirmation); the residual tax amount doesn't seem to reflect the provisional tax I've paid throughout the year. Before I go to the next step I just wanted to know if anyone has done this recently and whether the residual tax amount will be adjusted with the provisional tax I have already paid.

Where you say "the residual tax amount doesn't seem to reflect the provisional tax I've paid throughout the year" - do you mean that the PT isn't showing or isn't being taken into account in the calculation of your residual tax? i.e. what do you mean by 'reflect'?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I got to that point and then called them. After a quick chat, I bit the bullet and clicked next. More things then appeared and it then included the provisional tax payments made.

My IR3 has been "processed" but I cannot find a payment schedule for this year (like you got last year) for the coming year's provisional tax etc. so another phone call will be made.

my wife's myIRD page has all the wrong numbers showing on 2 years, so i'm not sure what to make of the website.

somewhere in the bowels of IRD they have all the correct details but for some reason when you open the main page you can't trust it!

Mmm I've just realised I haven't received my GST payment reminder. I wonder if this is from new IT system

spam folder?

Not that I can see. Got the email reminding to file for the 31st March end of tax year and nothing else other than agent linking notice.

Previously I would get gst reminders every 2 months which was convenient time to update cash book when I calculated gst tax owes etc.

Correct, I don't see any reference to PT anywhere throughout the process. Yes I would expect my residual tax to reflect the amount of PT I had paid which clearly it hasnt...

Perfect, that's what I was trying to confirm without having to ring them! Thanks @huckster
