Good afternoon geeks

Could anyone pls point me in the direction of a free custom-domain email hosting service?  I am not seeking high traffic volumes or even large storage really.  Just something I can basically configure to fwd on elsewhere.

Many thanks in advance

Frank.

Not free but the $5 plan (still works I think) is likely to be close enough for your purposes

I've been using MXroute for a year or two, with a gmail account picking up the mxroute email via POP3.  Quite happy with it.

ZOHO Mail still has a free option:  https://www.zoho.com/mail/zohomail-pricing.html

The downside is the free one cant be accessed by email clients, only webmail.  If your just going to forward it Im pretty sure it supports that no problems.

Have been using Zoho for years. Previously IMAP/POP3 access was free, now that's only included in the paid plans. But I'm mainly using it on mobile, and the Zoho mail app is great, so I don't have to pay yet. Otherwise it's pretty cheap.

Another option, $0 for just one address: http://25mail.st/ - they also provide good service, I have been their customer in the past too.

I've used https://www.inbox.eu/en/prices a few times because it's free (up to 3 mailboxes). The UI is not great, but can't complain for the price.

Zoho is the best option for a small team - under 5 users. If you have more than 5 users, you may choose Yandex or QQ

You can use https://mail.yandex.com/ for free email hosting. It's the largest search engine in Russia.

Another option is https://exmail.qq.com/   It's free for less than 50 users. The bad news is that the registration form only supports Chinese.

i've also been using zoho for years now for my own domain, never had an issue with it and would recommend

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Except they have now moved to a paid model so no longer free.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I'm using their Android app (very good) with a free account. I've had it for in excess of 12 months though, so perhaps that may have changed for new sign-ups.

if you look further down the page at https://www.zoho.com/mail/zohomail-pricing.html, they are still providing a "Forever Free" Plan

Yes but its for web access only.  Old existing accounts still are able to be accessed via mail clients but any new free ones only have webmail access.

there's still a free plan, OP mentioned he only wanted it setup to mail forward so I just assumed he didn't need the paid features..

I use some free Gmail accounts using this trick: https://medium.com/buildbuilds/how-to-hook-up-a-custom-domain-email-to-your-free-gmail-account-ead660884d11

It works well enough for my needs and the reply address still appears as my custom domain.

Don't a lot of providers now treat forwarded emails as spam? I thought that was the reason they were getting rid of paradise email forwarding.
