do any of the UPS's integrate with vista so that you can operate vista like a laptop - i.e. see the battery/power icon in the task tray, set automatic sleep/hibernate options when running on battery (without using a seperate application)?

You've probably seen it already, but the Vista help topic "What's new in managing power settings" says:

You can use the battery meter to put a different power plan into effect. Although the battery meter is more commonly used with mobile PCs, it can also appear on a desktop computer if the computer is plugged into a USB uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or other short-term battery device.

While they don't provide a link to a list of compatible UPSs, I would think that any that have the "Designed for Vista" logo would be okay, or any popular brand such as APC. I notice that the help doco specifically mentions USB, making me think that COM port UPSs are no longer fully, natively supported in Vista.

I tested an old powerware ups I had lying around and while it showed the UPS as a battery in the device manager and a battery meter icon in the systray there were no options to configure sleep or hibernate for when the system was running on batteries (like there is on the notebooks)

So before I go spending $$ on a bunch of ups's that "work with vista" but dont support power settings i thought i'd ask around.... the retail store people seemed to be clueless!
