https://www.reseller.co.nz/article/669421/manager-buys-spark-owned-ccl-networks-unit-founds-octave/

Anyone on this inside know more details? Presumably all CCL networking employees are effectively out of a job unless they agree to go work for Octave?

Is what the article hints at

All existing permanent CCL network services employees will be offered the opportunity to move to Octave, which will initially continue to operate out of CCL premises.

Not unusual is it?. Split off your bits to work like 2 entities (hello chorus). Gives a bit more play in ability to fingerpoint or sever ties that aren't under your own roof as it were while cashrolling to spend elsewhere

Almost - there are always a couple of exceptions, but every one I've spoken with is keen to progress with Octave - realistically, why would you want to be in a company that competes (and wins) against a parent company who doesn't want or like their offspring having a better product?
