Hi.
Is there any way to stop Word 365 from signing into the 365 a/c ?
I can log word out , but when I open outlook (365 exchange) , that signs all Office apps back in.

Word signing into the 365 a/c is causing word to hang, because of the custom designed macros & startup items
Disabling Word sign in to 365 is the easiest fix , if possible.

Buy a non 365 version of word?

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.

I'd say that your Office 365 account has an email account that is accessed using outlook. I use multiple email accounts in Outlook and only the Office365 account logs in automatically.

Because you don't want to have Office 365 use a Microsoft account then I think that you might have to solve this by making your Office365 account a different email account than the email accounts you are accessing in Outlook.

Is the best answer, o365 you need to sign in every 30 days to "activate" it again.

Try this:

  • Block signing into Office This policy setting controls whether users can provide credentials to Office using either their Microsoft Account or the user ID assigned by your organization for accessing Office 365

AFAIK that GPO just controls whether you can sign in with personal Microsoft accounts or only work Microsoft accounts (e.g. (bob@hotmail.com vs bob@mywork.co.nz)

Yes , I was considering that .
However, Office  2019 Retail is still linked to a MS a/c , you need to sign in to download & install the product . Will Office 2019 go 'live' & sign in when you dont want it to ?
I dont have a PC with Office2019 I can test this on , unfortunately.

Its definitely an option worth trying
Cheers

Have you looked at whether the macro could be written better?

If only it was that simple.  :-)
The answer was no

Its 3 things that are compatible: 365's sign in, the macro/plugin , a 3rd party (old) program the macro links to.
Remove any one of those 3 factors & the issue goes away
