Hi

As an alternative to RDC for out of Office remote desktop access
what are the recommended alternatives , and what products to avoid (not user friendly)
Some products seem to be designed/described for remote access by techs, rather than User out of office access
Perhaps not something browser based (so can go full screen) , multimonitor support would be a bounus

Teamveiwer would be perfect , but pricing is expensive & have to pay for updated versions

splashtop, Zoho , MSP360 , gotomypc , connectwise ?

I use Splashtop to access computers remotely but as you say it's more for support case. Parallels Access is a really good tool for accessing your computer from any device on the go. It is much more user friendly on a mobile device than using a Remote Desktop type of connection.

Google Chrome Remote Desktop is an option. I use Pulseway.

Why not just use VPN + RDP?

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.

That would have been my ideal choice, but ...
For 'reasons' , one site I cant implement a VPN , unless I purchase a particular horrendously priced Cloud based Firewall service ($ thousands per year)

Looks like some of the Remote software options are really not well thought out for remote access to a work PC .
Whats needed , is a single icon to click . Idiot proof as much as possible .
From the Software : Having to pick the desktop you want to remote into is a deal killer . Needs to be a way to show only the 1 PC that a user is allowed onto, not show all the
pc's on the software's a/c

Connectwise Control is fast, easy to set up, pretty cheap and requires 2FA.

Implement RD Gateway,  then give the user a single RDP shortcut configured to use the gateway?
