Metaname's NZ domains go up $5 (the $3 wholesale rate plus an increase of $2 margin) on the 1st of October.

Other price changes here https://www.metaname.co.nz/public/price_changes

So if you have domains coming up for renewal soon might be worth doing them early/longer.

Root cause of which appears to be InternetNZ putting prices up

Personally I find that a bit hard to stomach when they they have a 6 million dollar wage bill and 20 employees earning 6 figures according to their financials.

They have good people. Good people are often worth the money. I'd rather they keep paying high calibre people to do an effective job than fail to be competitive in the job market and attract mediocre talent instead.

InternetNZ are an important advocate for the Internet in NZ and the .nz space is their only significant revenue stream.

It also looks like international domains are going up too.

I agree to a point.. but that's a heck of a wage bill for what should be a small non profit.

The InternetNZ Team.

Bit of a thread hijack but I have no real issue with their operating expenses relative to what they do for us. We're very lucky to have them.
