I have had a domain registered with Iserve for a while and am just now wanting to set up an exchange 365 mail server with our custom domain name (no website planned).

Easy I thought, just login to the IDM console and create some TXT or MX records.  But there is no DNS settings  management that I can find. The nameservers are ns1.iserve.net.nz and ns2.iserve.net.nz.

Once I get the domain verified by Microsoft by adding  TXT records, I can change the nameserver to Microsoft's Nameserver.

I know just enough to be dangerous, and I may be completely barking up the wrong tree, but any advice welcomed.

Thanks

John

Have you tried talking to your service provider? (Vocus who own Orcon who bought Iserve many, many years ago)

There are two different logins for domain configuration under iserve. Maybe you're using the wrong one?

I moved my domains away from them years ago though, it's an old legacy platform that it's all running on.

I would recommend moving your domain over to Metaname personally. You may save some money in the process.

The OP literally says he wants to change his NS records over to Microsoft once he's been able to do the DNS validation by creating one new record, I assume per this article. Suggesting alternatives doesn't actually answer the question posed, no matter who your preferred service provider is.

Unfortunately its a .nz domain.  And I got busy and didn't get hold of iserve support today (and they didn't answer the emailed support request).

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

You can use Cloudflare for DNS for any domain. Just set up an account and do their DNS migration (and check your zone file), then when you are ready just switch to the DNS servers Cloudflare tell you to use at your .nz domain registrar. You can't use Cloudflare as a registrar for .nz domains though.

That's your problem right there, you don't actually use their IDM console for changing DNS settings. Instead you're meant to use their HMC (Hosting Management Console) to change DNS settings. Once logged in there you'll click on the domain you want to manage and then the "Select domain" button. From there it's "Manage Domains" in the menu and then "Edit Zone File".

So I transferred Domain registration to Metaname. Easy and easy to set up TXT record

Unless you have a website hosted with one of the Vocus hosting companies there is no ability to set DNS records (We are only setting up mail. No website.  Next problem is getting a domain with a hyphen verified at Exchange :-( )
