I deliver software I develop via temporary download links in an email, but most mail providers these days, including Gmail ,consider links to EXE files as likely spam and they are often unseen.  I've heard of one solution where someone links to a web page with a manual link to download, but I was wondering if a simple redirect to a download via a web server script would do the trick or not. Anyone have any clues?

Link to a web page with a link to the exe download is your best bet.

If you start to get to fancy with redirects to an exe download, web filters and or AV software could flag this as suspicious activity.

If I received an email with a link direct to an executable I would be very wary about clicking on it even if my email provider hadn't marked it as spam. I would much prefer to receive a link to webpage where I could download the software myself (after I had satisfied myself that it was legit).

Pretty much all the cloud storage platforms like Dropbox/OneDrive/Google Drive default to doing just this
