I notice when I format emails to be sent to anyone using Gmail or Gmail Hosted Apps, that Gmail doesn't render any of the email properly, when compared with Outlook, Thunderbird etc.

Is there anyway to get Gmail to?

Good idea!

I can see why they don't allow it - it would break the formatting of their webmail, but surely, there must be some way around this.

Campaign Monitor has an extremely helpful table of what clients support what:

Agreed completely - the search and filters have saved me so much time.

Anyway I've answered my own question - inline CSS.  GMail renders this properly.  And I have TradeMe's completed auction emails to thank.

oh lol.. sorry nate - that was the suggestion I was making with the link I posted earlier Tongue out too subtle?

It kinda makes sense not to support external CSS when you're primary interface is web-based - easy to screw with peoples layout.

I see that now Cool

It took me a handful of looks at an email from TradeMe before I noticed that their emails format fine, and a look at the view source confirms inline css.
