I have a client who has (mainly) international customers who will be download and uploading large files, so our NZ based webhosting company won't cut it.

I'm looking for an overseas (read: USA) Windows shared hosting provider, who also supports SQL Server 2008.  I've done a lot of research, read up on Web Hosting Talk, but I'm looking for personal recommendations from people who have hosting.

The packages from DiscountASP and GoDaddy look good, but I'm alittle anxious to recommend them as I don't have any experience with either of them.

Who do you recommend?

I have also been looking into US based IIS7 and SQL 2008 hosting recently and the two that keep coming to the top of the list are discountasp and reliable site.  I keep hearing GoDaddy is great for domains and no so good for hosting, might pay to give them a miss.

Reliable site seems to generally get better reviews than discount however their data center appears to be based in the east cost where as discount's data center is west coast based.

Closer geographic location of the data center could make a noticable difference for your users.

Thanks for your post, the GoDaddy pricing is fantastic, but I wonder if that's at the expense of performance/support etc.

Have a look at:  http://hostjury.com/reviews/GoDaddy vs http://hostjury.com/reviews/ReliableSite

Quite a difference in ratings and comments, I'm sure HostJury suffers from small sample size and self selection bias but it's still something to consider.

Discount ASP doesn't have enough reviews for a rating yet

I'm always hestitant about review sites as you have no idea what percentage of those users are legitimate.  They seem to have a good vetting process though, so here's hoping that most of the reviews are above board.
