I understand it was already a brand operated by them. I am surprised they kept the brand going so long.
Still plenty for the size of our market

Good thing Porkbun do .nz domains then
gzt: Are they keeping local support or is that already gone?
Long gone, that went when they were purchased by CD a few years ago.
Service went down the toilet, they contact customers directly to try and sell them things like email and webhosting, they also changed logins and passwords and did not tell anyone.
In the CD DNS, an A record is a Premium feature and you have to pay extra if I recall.

I know enough to be dangerous
The original acquisition was 2020, then there was a control panel migration in 2022 and a nameserver migration in 2023, both of which messed people around. People who wanted to bail when the second one pulled their sites offline were stuck because they couldn't even generate domain auth codes. It will be...interesting....to see how this one goes. (Disclosure: I work for SiteHost/MyHost, which was left as the largest NZ-owned hosting co. when Openhost and Freeparking both got snapped up be Newfold/Web[dot]com/Crazy Domains. Thanks for shrinking the pond, guys!)
Also, if anyone can tell me where NZ customers' sites are being migrated to, I'd be grateful. I assume they'll go to Crazy's location in Aussie, but that's only a guess.
gzt: Payment without login is such a minor thing but was so convenient and flexible. Some of the value proposition is gone without that.
I 100% agree. We put up with some pain during the transition as our Admin team could renew client domains without needing to involve our technical team. With that gone, there is nothing holding our business with them.
Calling certain types of DNS entries a 'premium' product and charging extra for it is a complete bull.

This. I've had a few clients over the years grumble as they/I need a verification record added to their DNS or when their website webform submissions get blocked by their mail host and I can't even add the most basic SPF record.
Sure having DNS across a CDN and DDOS protection are value add services but when is adding TXT records considered a premium product?!?
