Everybody's favourite FOSS VM has now released as ver.3 (not my personal choice, but this is dead easy for laymen use)

Available for windows, Mac & GNU/Linux

So if you need a virtualisation of a windows machine on your mac or linux system to play games, or want to take Ubuntu for a test-drive without affecting your existing system, this should do nicely.

Support 3D video abstraction, so games & advanced video are a go.

Would suggest chjecking that your CPUis VT-capable to get best performance out of it

VirtualBOX is awesome. Built a test environment with Windows 2008R2 and Windows 7 using VirtualBOX on my Mac and it performs brilliantly. I can recommended the free download. USB pass-thru and RDP functions are very good. Supports DirectX if running on Windows. Can also run on a Linux box.

Seamless mode is excellent, I can run windows 7 and Mac apps seamlessly on one screen. Very nice.

Just for fun I also have Haiku (BeOS clone) running.

I saw this review this morning on hot to geek. Use VirtualBox on Your windows PC

I like the virtual box and have dropped using Microsoft.

I use Virtualbox everyday for work. I run Ubuntu as my host OS but need to use Windoze to run 1 application. I also love the fact that it is totally free...

But I am a little biased as a Sun Micro employee... ;)
