Hello Everyone

Can anyone that is currently with sitehost please give me an idea of how good they are as a host?

Reason being that I have been looking around at alot of dedi servers lately and they seem very cheap for what is being offered.

Either that or if you have any other recommendations based on the specs below would be greatly appreciated.

Essentially the server is going to be used for driving windows ent 08 and sql svr 08

Wish there was some sort of pricespy for finding servers

  • Q9550 Quad core processor

  • 8gb DDR-2 800Mhz Memory

  • 4x 500gb Seagate Barracuda SATA II Hard Drives (Mirror)

  • Lights Out Management (LOM)

  • Free National Bandwidth

  • 10 GB International Monthly Bandwidth

  • 3 Usable IPv4 addresses

  • 50 GB on-site backup space

    $395.00 monthly (12 month)

I use SiteHost as a VPS host and have been very impressed with them. I can't comment on their dedicated servers, but their VPSs are always fast, and I've only ever had one outage and was pleased at the support I got during the outage.

The outage was caused by a customer's VPS that had been hacked and was being flooded with traffic.

Im with amanzi (though that outage sounds a lot like Hosting Directs issue earlier this year).

SiteHost had network issues one evening with some packet loss (Around 1-2AM). I emailed Quintin immediately as soon as I noticed this (You notice packet loss when editing txt files via ssh), and he got back to me prior to business hours with an email letting me know they'd been alerted to it via their own monitoring, they had fixed the issue immediately and were taking further precautionary steps to prevent it happening again. Thats not bad for a sole issue for over a year of having them as a VPS provider :)

Can't comment on their dedicated hosting, but if its anything like their VPS service, you'll be absolutely stoaked you made the choice to go with them :) Pricing isnt specifically bottom of the line, but its competitive to say the least!

Cheers for that chilling, gives a good picture of their service. Dont know how much your paying for the vps, but i couldnt find anything cheaper for the dedi anywhere else.

That is unless i wanted to purchase the hardware and only pay for co-location Smile

Just need to save some money up and get rid of my old hoster now Money mouth one charges in arrears and one in advance

We were paying $410 for dual 3ghz 1gb ram (webdrive vps) etc instead of $395 for quad 2.? and 8gb ram Laughing
