Has anyone noticed that all the media content on TVNZ's website now requires Flash Player 10.

And that Flash Player 10 can only install with admin privileges.

Can someone tell me

(a) What is the drop-dead, must-have capability in Flash Player 10 that means that only that can display TVNZ;s video. (as opposed to - say - Flash Player 1-9) and

(b) Why such an pervasive plugin like FP should need admin privileges to install.

Answers on the back of a brick to TVNZ and Adobe please.

Adaptive streaming & Vector support come to mind but there are heaps of security fixes and new features in version 10 compared to version 9.

Given version 10 has over 90% market penetration I don't see any problem with tvnz not supporting version 9 any longer on there site.

You can install Flash for Firefox without admin rights, plenty of sites telling your how just do a search.

If you're stuck in a locked down corporate deskop environment where they are not keeping up with updates and rolling them out via global policy... that's life.  I suggest working for a better company that doesn't suck so much.
