Hi All,

Can anyone give me a quick yes or no on whether the NZ Post codes are:

North Island < 7000
South Island > 7000

They appear to be from the maps I have looked at.

Can confirm the post codes first digit is region starting at 1 and going down the country

South island start with 7

Code prefix

Regions

Northland, Auckland (Rodney, Hibiscus Coast, North Shore & West Auckland)

Auckland (roughly the old Auckland City)

Auckland (South & East), Waikato (northernmost part)

Bay of Plenty, Waikato

Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Wanganui

Wellington (Wairarapa, Kapiti, Porirua and Hutt Valley)

Wellington (roughly Wellington City)

Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury (excluding Christchurch)

Canterbury (roughly Christchurch City)

Otago, Southland

7000, 8000 and 9000 are the South Island Post Codes.
