We're rebuilding a WSUS server and were wondering if the traffic it'd generate for downloading the updates again would be classed as national or international? Does anyone know if there are Windows Update replica servers in NZ or are they hosted in AUS or asia for that matter?

Raab speaks the truth.

It use to be that if you pinged windowsupdate.microsoft.com etc it would resolve to a local IP/cache.

Iconz? and Snap both have Akamai cache. Hence windows patches are usually superfast.
