This week I was looking aroun Xero to find out exactly how much revenue per customer we have had in the last few years. There isn't a report for that - unless you go to each customer and list invoices updating the start/end period.

I wanted a simple report that would list the Top [X] customers by revenue in a period. Lucky we only have a few customers so I could manually check the ten or so records for the top ones, but anyone with a bigger flow would need more than this.

It's a pity you can't design customised reports. That's a pretty standard feature with the major out-of-the-box accounting packages.

@freitasm I was wondering how useful the Income by Contacts report would be? It lists all customers invoiced in a particular period, with the overall total for that customer. And if you update the report to run period=12 months, compare with previous=3 months for example, you'd get the amount invoiced for the last 4 years for each customer with an overall total for the 4 years. Sure, you'd need to export the report to spreadsheet in order to sort by biggest customer per year or overall total but in the absence of a specific Top X report you might still be able to get what you need? You can also drill into any of the yearly figures or overall total to get the list of invoices (again, you'd have to export and combine all this data if you wanted it all in one place to that level).

Yes, that will do it... Interesting when I asked Xero Support about this the answer was to view invoice by individual contact. No mention of Income by Contact report.

Thanks

Hey Mauricio we're currently developing a tool that let's Xero customers create their own business intelligence dashboard. Take a look at www.thinkcloud.co.nz we are looking for people interested in being our beta test drivers. Please contact me on the website if you're interested.
Cheers, Rob Owen.
