I've got a ISA 2006 instance that I want to replace with FTMG however I want to stage the replacement, can I run these together?

We run Forefront TMG 2010 and ISA 2006(just for exchange 2003) and they both play nice.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Excellent. Should be a short-term (yeah, right) situation as I'll swap rebuild the existing ISA as TMG. To clarify, do you have the two connecting the same segments?

We run ISA 2006 just for OWA 2003. Both Forefront 2010 and ISA 2006 run on the same network, both know each other are there but they don't interfere with each other. New forefront handles the important bit and ISA 2006 only handles the rule for the OWA connector for exchange 2003. Nothing more.

Key is not to have the same rules on both servers or it will all turn custard.

Best guide for in place migration from 2006 to forefront.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd440994.aspx

Export all the rules, certificates(if needed for certain sites) to new forefront server. Make sure it's not part of the domain. Once everything is ready, turn off the old server, switch new to the domain and it should all just work.

Do whatever you want to do man.

The current ISA 2006 is not working (one segment access to Windows Update does not work, VPN DHCP resolution rule does not work and URL routing not working) so TMG is more a fix than a migration, but thanks for the advice.
