Hi

I received an email today from the DIA thanking me for my pasport application and giving me a case number, which was odd as I hadn't made a passport request.

I checked the email for the usual spam/scam type things but it was just a plain txt email with no links to click on and came from a seemly genuine email address

I decided to check out the case number on their website, I googled it up and clicked on the link and just kept getting an error that the website didn't exist. It was google cached etc, so I left it at that.

When I got home tonight I rechecked the website and got the error "This website is temporarily unavailable. We are working to restore access to this site"

Was wondering if anybody knows whats happened with this site?

Seems odd that a Government website would start email people about un asked for passport checks then go offline.

I know I'm probably been paranoid but does anybody think they may have been hacked into?

Cheers

http://www.dia.govt.nz/ is the only DIA official website. It is not working for me, with the same message.

But I don't think think this is related. If you did not apply for a passport, I think this is a phishing email, just the scammer was a complete idiot and did not give you links.

"already being discussed" a bit of a stretch Mauricio - this thread is older but no longer and slightly different in focus.

My observations about the "conspiracy" remain valid http://m.geekzone.co.nz/Forums/48/Topic/79959/1 before anyone goes off half-cocked...
