Hey guys,

I'm in my final year of studying at the University of Auckland, I have questions regarding the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification.

First of all i see that lot of jobs that are out there tend to look for people with this certification, just wanted to know how i should start about the whole process? Has anyone done the MCP certification? What are some pre-requisites for it?

cheers

Moved this to [IT Pro] since it's not a [Windows] question.

You tend to get MCP when you complete any MS certificate - I got MCP when I completed my MCDST (70-271 70-272)

"A person is required to pass one current Microsoft certification exam to become a MCP which can be written at a Prometric testing center worldwide."

Heres some more info

There are no prerequisites, just find an exam or certification what you are interested in, learn, book the exam at www.prometric.com and do it :)

I think that MCP meant that you had passed 1  exam towards achieving one of the bigger certifications., for instance to get the MCSA you need to pass 5 exams and MCSE about 7. I've been out of the Microsoft certification path for some years so the lingo could have changed Smile

Now there are MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) and MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) tracks for various products, just to make the HR and recruitment agencies confused who usually has no idea what is going on.
Saw a couple of job posts looking for MCSE:2008 and stuff like that :)
