Hey guys,
I'm wondering what people use for naming conventions around their failover DNS records. We have our various SaaS applications under apps.xyzdomain.com. We have put in a failover server in Wellington that replicates every few minutes. If there ever is a problem at the main server the TTL update would take too long to just change its IP to the Wellington server so I'm thinking a seperate record to give to our customers. maybe something like:

backup.apps.xyzdomain.com

Anyone got ideas here?

We have nz1.domain.com, nz2.domain.com, etc. Each points to a different balancer at a different location that will handle the failover. We then sync only the backend.
