I am looking to integrate my browser-based system with hardware systems such as barcode scanners and eftpos terminals.  From what I've read so far it sounds like using javascript and ActiveComport SDK is the best way to go.  I'd be interested if anyone else has integrated a web app with hardware and how you pulled it off, I have a solid software background but hardware is all new!
