I'm looking for software (paid is OK) that will ideally run as a Windows service and download emails from a POP3/IMAP account and then extract and save any attachments into folders on the local PC. If it could put attachments into different folders based on certain criteria that would be helpful also. Will probably end up running on a server so would need to run independently of any email client.

Anyone have any ideas or used anything that does this before? My google-ninja skills are failing me at the moment...

Not quite a windows service but would an Outlook client rule with and add-in like this:

do the job?

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Just wrote something similar to this for a new system we're rolling out, we could adapt some of the code for your requirements

Flick me a PM if you can't find anything existing off the shelf.

@floydbloke: unfortunately one of the requirements is that is must be a stand-alone app - so that rules out using any email client.
