Is this function in built? I'd like two VMs to be power off, and then on automatically at 1am every day(they are running non persistent disks, restarting as a guest doesn't make it go back to how it was). Is it possible?

I'm not sure what terms I should be googling for

Cheers!

You could set up a scheduled task to shutdown the servers within their own OS...

As for scheduling a startup I'm not so sure...but you'd be halfway there :)

We have Vcentre here, I suspect that could manage it?

Thanks for that though, but I can't shutdown the physical machine :(

Oops, misread you. I'll have a look into that option. Thanks :)

Are you trying to shutdown the VMs or the actual ESXi host? I have a script which can shutdown an ESXi server remotely. When the script initiates the shutdown, the VMs will be shutdown first of course followed by the actual host.
In order to turn it back on, just use a Wake on Lan script.

I have two VMs on an esxi server. I'd like them to "power off" and "power on" at 1:30am in the morning so the non persistent disks reset

ok, just sent the e-mail. I use it to shutdown the ESXi servers automatically from the UPS monitoring software in an event of power outage.
