There's an Office 365 outage going on. My Outlook lost contact with the mothership, and a few minutes ago showed a bubble warning telling me to check my account credentials.

I wanted to check my mail, so decided to login to the OWA (Outlook Web Access), and this is what I got:

My mailbox disappeared? I hope not. Not cool.

All our clients are phoning in, a lawyers firm has been down since 8:09am.

However my connection is still up strangely enough! (the only one in the office). Apparently it is a DNS error in Singapore from what we hear, they are planning on using the hongkong backup.

The student email system at Otago Uni uses Office 365... I've just tried logging in through OWA and I'm getting this:

"A temporary change has occurred that requires you to connect to a different server. To connect, click the button below. For security reasons, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password again.
You should be able to use your usual address to access your mailbox within an hour."

I can then get into my email through the temporary server (the same subdomain with an f on the end!) but it seems this only works with OWA... Outlook Mac and iOS Mail won't change to this server. Looks like it may be fixed soon!

I volunteer my time on here, and all opinions expressed are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.

I logged a support issue, but then felt I would like to talk to a real person.
Amazingly enough I got through and I was told they are well aware of the issue and engineers are currently working to rectify the problem.

The operator also promised to call me back in an hour with a progress report.

No problems for me here and I haven't had any calls from our clients who are on it.

Can confirm OWA now works. And as i suspected we are now connected to Hk instead of Singapore.

All depends where you and your clients are connected too, if its singapore then you will have problems, because you arn't i suspect your in HK.

Office 365 is allowed a day off this year, 'cause its a leap year.... If you got 366 days of it, that'd be false advertising.

Hi all, apologies to those affected on Friday 16th by a brief outage we had for Exchange Online in our Singapore datacentre – this did affect some customers in New Zealand. It was related to some DNS issues and we did a failover to Hongkong DC, and then restored services which did take a little while longer than expected - hopefully people were not to displaced by this event.

We posted public updates on this to:

http://twitter.com/office365

Customers can always see detailed service status info at:

For any issues please feel to log a support request anytime at

Just one more reason I won't store my valued items in the cloud :)
