Woah, check out snap.co.nz!

Snap's unlimited plans have landed, and are available right now. No matter what service type you can get at your house, unlimited (and snap!) is there for you.

Not only is there no data cap, but no traffic management, no shaping or throttling and no fair use clause, so you can do whatever your heart desires at full speed!

If you are currently with us and want to change to one of the new options, then you will sadly need to wait until the end of your current billing cycle for the change to take effect. If you want us to make the change for you, give us a call on 0800 276 232 or message us with your account number and we will get on those quick smart.

^MC

Serious comment, the first thing that comes to mind when I see the promo bit for the plan on the homepage is "Isn't Unleash a competitor?" To be fair, most would be none the wiser, and it could just be an unfortunate coincidence, but they are appearing in the RSP lists of the local fibre companies alongside Snap.

Excellent..

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. Ralph, the Snap website is not good. Click on that huge banner on the home page and it takes you to a page that doesn't mention unlimited plans - all I can see is plans with 50-80GB caps, after a forced reload of the page. Also if you want detailed pricing you have to make like you're going to sign up, even if you're already a customer.

As an existing Snap customer I count this as a negative. These unlimited, unmanged users typically consume far more than their fair share of resources and can slow things for everyone. In the immortal words of Spock, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". I hope you monitor how this goes and ensure the (I guess) 95% of moderate users aren't negatively impacted.

Did you guys decrease data on all plans at the same price, just to make up for the unlimited plan?

I can recall that UFB 100/50 have 150GB or 100GB @ $110?

Interesting spotting, I only looked at ADSL for starters, but checking the notes I made of the VDSL pricing a couple of months ago, you could get 100GB for $95 and 200GB for $110, now it's 80GB and 150GB.  I never made any notes of the fibre plans.

Not to mention those types usually consume the most support resources, with the support resources under pressure already, I'd be worried about becoming the new Orcon.

Data caps have been reduced for existing plans as you noticed. They should have increased data, not reduce it for existing plans.

Do whatever you want to do man.

There are no details on the website, just the banner, and you click on it, and it goes to a page that doesn't mention the plan at all. It says terms and conditions apply, but where are these?

To add to the bombardment of questions :)

Will data capped users be in a different bandwidth pool to unlimited users?

Agreed.  I notice some slightly odd changes too.  For example, there's now (or maybe there has been for a while) a 150GB naked plan for $99.  But... if I get the 80GB plan for $85 per month I can pay $15 for a 100GB add on and unlimited downloads from 1am - 7am...  I just don't get where that 150GB plan fits in.
