Hey Guys,

Just moved to Snap from WxC but having trouble finding settings for SIP to use with my TP Link TD-VG3631.

This is what I've worked out:

Profile Name: SnapVOIP
Phone Number: Phone number without leading 0
Display Name: Phone Number
Authentication Realm: -blank-
Authentication ID: ?
Password: ?
Registrar Address: connect1.plus.snap.net.nz
SIP Proxy: connect1.plus.snap.net.nz
Outbound Proxy: 0.0.0.0

Registrar Port: 5060
SIP Proxy Port: 5060
Outbound Proxy Port: 5060

Preferred Codec 1: G.711ALaw
Preferred Codec 2: G.711MuLaw
Preferred Codec 3: G.722
Preferred Codec 4: G.729a/b

What I'm not sure of is the "Authentication ID" and is the password the same as the account password?

auth ID is the phone number again, and yes, acct password

I had to include the leading 0 for my config on a SPA112 so check that as well if it does not work.

Here is my configuration from my working FreePBX install:

So after a month of no phone I got it working tonight with the following settings:

Profile Name: SnapVOIP
Phone Number: Phone number with leading 0
Display Name: Phone Number
Authentication Realm: -blank-
Authentication ID: Phone number with leading 0
Password: SIP Password
Registrar Address: connect1.plus.snap.net.nz
SIP Proxy: connect1.plus.snap.net.nz
Outbound Proxy: 0.0.0.0

Registrar Port: 5060
SIP Proxy Port: 5060
Outbound Proxy Port: 5060

Preferred Codec 1: G.711ALaw
Preferred Codec 2: G.711MuLaw
Preferred Codec 3: G.722
Preferred Codec 4: G.729a/b

This however would not have been possible without the SIP password which was not the same as the account password. Anyone wanting to setup a custom device in the future other than the FRITZ!Box will have the same issue unless you can't obtain that password.

You don't unless you can convince Snap to give it out. Something they aren't normally willing to do at the moment.

Just for any future reference - I assume people outside of Christchurch use a different SIP server; unless the others are just for redundancy.

connect1.plus.snap.net.nz = Christchurch
connect2.plus.snap.net.nz = Wellington
connect3.plus.snap.net.nz = Auckland

Just leave it on connect1.. the others don't work :)

Auckland, snap configured my VoIP settings themselves - as i suspected, and this thread confirmed, it was a password issue all along as to why i couldnt do it myself.

seems im set on connect1, never noticed any issues with the latency..

might jump onto the auckland based sip server, see if i notice any differences.

I've never actually tried switching so I don't know if the others would work or if it has to be provisioned differently from their end.. Most latency would be getting from your router to the core so suspect you wouldn't get much lower than the figures above, but would be interesting to know :)

Edit - you bet me to posting. Interesting, perhaps the others are just there running passively in case Christchurch goes down, or maybe they are just for corporate customers (who use a separate VLAN anyway)

Hey I'm curious why you'd put g.722 as third preferred codec, you might as well take it out altogether if you do that order.
It would make more sense to have

1.722
2.711a
3.711u
4.729

In my opinion.
