gnfb: Ok let me get this straight There are people out there who BUY a CD?.... Still! and WHY? We must be over the tactile purchasing need by now?

I must admit, I purchased an actually physical CD last week (after already paying for a copy via iTunes), probably the first one in countless years.  Only because the band was having a signing, so a signed copy, and it was great to turn out and support a local band. Looks kinda nice on the shelf, which I guess the iTunes version can't match.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Next it will be computer stores, and Western Digital and Seagate being in charge of making sure people do not store pirated music and movies on their hard drives.

... On  a more serious note, That after sales feeling is still very important When you see a shelf full of plastic you feel good! ....

You feel even better with vinyl. Nice big covers, hi-tech mechanical turntable - you can see it working! Smells nice too smile
For an added bonus use a good valve amplifier - the "tubes" glow and you can see it thinking.

PS  I also stream 24-bit music - sounds great, but you can't see it working frown

Yabanize: They're also going after Ford and General Motors for having CD Ripping cars

Totally rediculus
"The case will prove to be an interesting test of the legality of “recording” devices in car entertainment systems. As is usually true, the law is not as black and white as AARC’s complaint states.

For example, the lawsuit doesn’t mention that the Audio Home Recording Act includes various exemptions for personal use and for recording equipment that’s part of a larger device, such as CD-burners in computers.
