The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has published a discussion document reviewing New Zealand’s Radiocommunications Act 1989. The Act governs the licencing and use of all wireless technology in New Zealand. It has not been reviewed since the mid-1990s. Technological developments since then make a review timely.

The discussion document looks at issues including competition regulation, technical parameters on licences and interference management.
