Sony just announced the SmartWatch 2

The first SmartWatch wasn't rated very highly so I think it will be interesting to see how good this one is. I'm kind of tempted though.

I don't know why the tech media didn't rate the first smart watch so well. I've got the MN2 current generation Sony smartwatch. I have to say since the latest software upgrade it is awesome. It now lasts nearly a week, connectivity is much more reliable. It's sweet not to have to haul your phablet out of your pocket just to check the time, latest text, who the email is from, to change status to silent, to get a gps speed, etc etc

It depends on the $$$. The only advantage I can see is the screen, bigger and daylight viewable.

Verge says "high price" for the original Sony Smartwatch but it is currently US$99 on Amazon, so I don't agree with that label.

I'd get one from the first generation but it is not as thin as I'd expect it to be. Other than that, I think it's cool (and now open).

Looks pretty cool but not sure if I could make the move to Android. Have just ordered a Cookoo which has IOS support although nowhere near the functionality of the Sony, but it does have really good battery life!

iOS currently has crippled functionality for bluetooth connected devices, supposedly this is remedied in iOS7 though

Quite a good article here on how the new Sony stacks up. The metawatch seems like a good option also.

The problem with the pebble is the shipping times are crazy slow. There is just such a backlog.

When was the latest update?
Mine's sitting in a drawer atm.
I was glad to hear they've unlocked the firmware to developers to create their own. It might breathe new life into the thing yet.

@freitasm The original price was $150 USD.

I paid about $140 last November. I got it from expansys. It's too thick because of the clip on the strap system. But I love it. Daylight viewable screen would be awesome. This new one might be quite tempting depending on the cost.

Oh well.. I'll wait for custom firmware if anyone ever does it.

I know what you're saying about it being to thick tho. really annoying!

I can't find any review that states whether this has an always on display, ie a transreflective display or not. I want a watch I can read without having to twist shake or prod anything.

I found this article this morning about the 3rd party augmented app that runs on multiple platforms. This guy is rating the Sony highly. Also it's the first article I've read that sounds like it's written by someone that's worn a watch before.
